"Pros: The cat wasn't able to dodge, it was hit straight on its chest, it is likely to have received some noticeable damage, and it had been efficiently thrown away. Cons: It is faster than I, more agile than I, and is ready to attack me"
His train of thought developed the situation, although his possibilities of counter-attack were limited by...well, the attack that was supposed to be countered. He looked at his current opponent, surely his fellow trainees had been much harder to spar with, weren't they? Unfortunately for him, Tralok was starting to doubt so; the leopard was ready to pounce once more, and this time, it had learnt its lesson of not attacking directly at his face. Instead, the approach that the big kitty took, was that of weakening his opponent's base structure, destroying his balance, and getting an advantage. Or in simpler terms, just to attack Tralok's legs.
It was a smart move from the animal, whether it knew it, or it was acting on instinct. The mage had to tense his legs to be able to deliver the thrust, meaning that moving away was slightly more difficult, plus, if it was to hit with such sharp predatory claws; the wounds wouldn't be limited to a bruise. Tralok made a feeble attempt at jumping sideways, however, the leg that was at the front would still be hit. As the representative of the phlegmatic element received a painful cut on the right side of his right leg; he clenched his teeth to avoid shouting in pain, then he continued his movement by acting as a river would. He let himself be dragged into the sea, but didn't recede on his influence; instead of tensing his legs, he let himself fall on the ground, kneeling, and with Kath'yu still in horizontal position. His front leg would probably fall on top of the beast if it didn't move, yet the movement was slow enough for the leopard to avoid it with ease.
And though he seemed at a disadvantage, the mage wasn't completely helpless, even from that position. The ground below him wasn't hard dirt, but grass, which could allow him to spin freely without standing, aside from knowing that it'd be less painful than standing with a wounded leg. Next there was his evident advantage of wielding a voulge, range could save his life regardless of the power of his opponent. Finally, the position permitted a nice view of the leopard, and particularly, its proximity to the lake, which he plotted to use for attacking purposes. Though most of those factors were likely to be overshadowed by a simple and singular thought, one that could only come out of someone like him. It was easier to lie down from that position, meaning that it was also easier to take a rest. Tralok was underestimating the leopard heavily, or perhaps he was fighting seriously and considering his health state, it was only for him to know.

Admittedly, I employed a narrative technique taken from your first post, in the last sentence.
